During the day I put on some music and do some dancing in the lounge room with my 18 month old. Even if it is only for 15 minutes it is a way of getting some exercise and having fun with my daughter at the same time.Pashaar - Doncaster VIC
When going to the shops, don't always look for the closest carpark. Park a little bit further away to get more exercise in your day. You won't even notice it.Tilling - Hazelwood Park SA

As social creatures we often catch up with our loved ones around a table eating and drinking. Usually consuming unhealthy food and in larger portions than needed. Make a list of things that you can do with your friends and family that do not revolve around food. If you do catch up for a meal, plan ahead of time to go to places that will provide you with healthy options. Better still arrange a picnic where you can get some fresh air, exercise and control the food that you will consume.Hans - Beenleigh QLD

Don't stock 'sometimes' food at home. My kids get enough lollies, chocolates, chips, etc from birthday parties and occasional treats (e.g. after swimming or during holidays)anyway. They don't need to have them everyday.Penny - sydney NSW
Try not to eat too late at night, if you feel hungry just have a piece of fruit or low fat yoghurt . Do not go to bed straight away after eating as that makes you gain weight.

Store bought Muesli may contain added salt and sugar. Here is my delicious home made version I enjoy with HiLo milk and chopped fresh fruit. 4 cups rolled oats, 1 cup bran, 1/2 cup each cashews, dried apricot, dried apple, sultanas. 1/4 cup each sunflower seeds, almond flakes, pepitas and flax seed. Also, mix 2 cups of muesli mix with 1 teaspoon honey dissolved in 2 tablespoons hot water. Spread on a tray and bake in moderate oven till crisp - this is fantastic sprinkled on low fat yogurt.Annette - Ashgrove QLD

Set a routine and stick to it no matter what. For example, promise a friend you will meet her for a walk every Tuesday morning or promise the kids you will take them to the park and play with them every Monday afternoon.
